Mark Evanier’s panel with Jack C. Harris reminded us that SD Comic Con has panels, many panels, for comic books. It is still primarily a comic book convention. Mark is a great host/moderator, asking questions and following up, and keeping the session going.
Jack told us about his history in the industry. He has a Steve Ditko book, Working with Ditko. Jack got along with Ditko, while other creatives found him challenging. He explained that there were things Steve did not like and he would leave a project if those things came up. Jack was very conscious of these and avoided those topics, leading to a long working relationship. Harris also loved Ditko’s commitment to the art. Steve did not just draw a villain’s car. He would design schematics. You would think that would work in real life.
Jack received an Inkpot Award, which are done yearly at Comic Con, for his work in the comics industry.
